Quote of the Day!

This quote hit home for me so I decided to share it with you all. Too many times we things, ideas etc. off because of our circumstances at the moment, but why? Usually it is out of fear of the unknown. I am definitely guilty of this at times, but I want to challenge myself and my fashion dolls to really go hard for your dreams and make them a reality. Ready. Set. Go!

Getting to Know: Diane Andrieux

This past weekend I had the amazing pleasure of attending a fictional stage play called, “Saul’s Juke Joint”, a theatrical dance musical set in the 1930s. I know what you’re thinking…….I am not really a play or a musical type of girl, but this particular play happened to be very fun & entertaining. And if you follow me on Instagram, you know I was having a blast that night; posting all kinds of pictures from the show. Anyway, this period piece took place in Florida and  was about a local “juke joint”, blacks and whites could attend regularly to escape the racism of the time. It included a mini-concert towards the end of about 10 songs and had a predominantly black cast consisting of actors, comedians, dancers and singers all from the Tampa Bay area.

The show had several talented singers, but it was newcomer to the play, Diane Andrieux, (that played Suga Mama, one of lead singers) that had the crowd wondering, 'Who’s that girl?' I had the opportunity to sit down with Ms. Andrieux after the show and learn a little bit more about this talented singer.

How old were you when you started getting involved with music?

I started at about 12 years old. I would sing all around the house, everywhere I went.  Then, at about 16, I started singing in church. I know that sounds cliché for singers to get started in church, but it’s true.

How did you figure out you could sing?

I found out I could sing by my friends and family, telling me “oh girl, you can sang!” Then I was told by my choir director of the youth choir that I had a gift and that’s when they took me under their wing. I was scared to sing for a while, in the beginning, because I didn't want people to think I was showing off, you know?

When did you decide music was your career?

Oh, um, a long time ago! When I was younger, I use to write letters to God asking him to make me singer. I just knew I was born to do it and I always knew it was something I was destined to do.

Will you be doing more musicals like “Saul’s Juke Joint” anytime soon?

Yes! Absolutely! I didn’t realize it was going to be that much fun. The cast welcomed me with open arms and to be able to sing, dance and act was a dream. I’m a chameleon. I want to do it all! So anytime they need me for anything, I’m game!

Where do you hope to see your career in the next five years or so?

Where do I see myself in the next five years, hmm, hopefully I will be traveling the world on tour, writing for different artist because I am also a songwriter, winning Grammy’s  and just doing me. What I love to do.

This girl definitely has a humble spirit and she’s extremely funny and naturally animated. It’s hard not to love her! And most of all, she has an amazing voice. I look forward to following her career.

Trending Now....

Trending Now

The official day of Spring is almost here and for some it has already started, with the kiddies on Spring Break this week. As the weather warms and the snow starts to melt, one of the hottest trends this season amongst some of the hottest trends this season is the Lucite sandal. The fashion divas alike are flocking to this trend because it can be worn with almost anything and with all the money we spend on the perfect pedi, having a cute pair of shoes to show off those well-groomed toes, it’s no wonder women want to rock this barely-there style.

So what do you think of this trend? Would you rock it? Yay or Nay.

Coveted!

Covet

Hey Dolls!

As some of you may know, I have been a little under the weather these last few days with an awful cold. I haven't been this sick in over a year! But as a woman who wears many hats, the show doesn't stop just because I'm sick so I decided to dedicate this post to one of my favorite online shops, JustFab.com. I have posted about this site in the past and how I love there shoes, especially the black-strapped booties I purchased from them last year. I wanted to share with you all what I am currently coveting from there site.

If you are a fan of fashion like myself then you know the "trapeze" shaped bags are all the rage with Prada and Celine being the most coveted. JustFab's "Fifth Avenue" bag is almost an exact replica of the Celine trapeze handbag that has been seen all over lately. When I saw it, I knew I had to have it and at $69 bucks for similar look compared to the hundreds you would need to purchase a Celine bag, it really is a no-brainer purchase.

Then we have the beautiful "Sao Paulo" yellow, nude and snake-skin strappy heel. One word: Gorgeous! They are the perfect the Spring time shoe and with my trip to Puerto Rico coming up soon, I have to have these!

Just an FYI, if you have a membership with JustFab.com the above prices are discounted to $39.99  an item. Also, if you choose to purchase any of the above items and it's your first time purchase, the items will be 50% off. How cool is that?! Check out there website for more details.

If having a membership isn't your style, but you still want to have the look, JC Penneys' is offering a trapezoid bag for $50 that is relatively similar and just as cute.

Quote of the Day!

Happy Monday!

How was everyone's weekend? I had a few events to attend this past weekend so the weekend definitely went by wayyy too fast for my liking. I'm not complaining, i'm blessed and I understand that fact, but a little downtime for rest and relaxation would've been greatly appreciated. However, it is Monday already and the show must go on so with that said, here's a little Monday motivation to get everyone through another work week successfully.

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit." -Aristotle

I love this quote because it's very true. We are what we continuously do each day. Many people want change in their life, but don't take the steps to make things different. Some of you may have weight goals you haven't achieved yet, but don't workout regularly or at all. You may dislike your job, but won't apply for another job that makes you happy or try to acquire the skills you need to get a higher position out of fear or complacency. I've been there, some days I am there. But don't feel stuck in your situation, whatever it may be, it can be changed by simply choosing to make what you want in your life a habit. Make today the day you start your new habit of excellence.

Now get up, get dressed and be EXCELLENT today!

Stay fabulous, loves.

xoxo,

Chi
