Top 10 Summer Essentials

Summer is right around the corner and there are some definite must-haves every fashionista should have close by for those hot summer days.

1. Sunscreen: Its an absolute must-have if your in the sun. It doesn't matter how fair or dark your skin tone is, using sunscreen can help protect your skin from the sun's harmful rays. I recommend using at least an SPF-15 or higher, depending on how sensitive your skin is to burning.

2. Bottled Water: It's necessary to stay hydrated during these hot summer days, plus it's also great for your skin. Try to get a reusable water bottle that is BPA (bisphenol A) free (which is just a fancy way of saying the plastic used to make your water bottle is chemical free).

3. Chapstick: In the summer my lips become super dry. Chapstick helps because it conditions your lips and prevents them from cracking, peeling and drying.

4. Well-fitting Swimsuit: Have a bathing suit that fits well and shows off your figure in the most flattering way.

5. Sunglasses: Never leave home without this summertime staple! Their are plenty of styles available for any budget and they're definitely summer's must-have.

6. Cover-up dress: There are various types of cover-ups, but my go to cover-up is a maxi tube dress. It's quick to put on after getting out of the water and it's still appropriate if you need to make a stop somewhere on your way back from the pool or beach.

7. Sandals: It's definitely a fashion faux-pas to ever be caught in "flip flops". So please don't do it! The better and more stylish alternative is a cute pair of sandals. You can wear flats or wedges depending on your style, however, just make sure you don't get any with too many buckles as it will become harder to put them on or take them off. Also, remember to stay away from "Jelly" style sandals (or rubber sole shoes) because when they get wet your feet will slide out of the shoe.

8. Cute beach bag: A big bag is preferable. Basically one large enough to hold all of your stuff from shoes to a change of clothing.

9. Beach towel: It helps to have a large towel to wrap around yourself after getting out of the water. You can dry off and use it like a blanket if you become cold after exiting the water.

10. Hat or hair scarf: After you've gotten wet and sand is everywhere, your hair will most likely be a mess so having a hat or scarf to tie your hair up with will allow you to still look presentable while leaving the beach.
