What 2 Wear?!

Hey Lovelies!

I am having such a hard time deciding on my blogger conference look for next week. I really think I am over-thinking it. I want to be comfortable, not too casual, but not too dressed up. I shopped Forever 21 recently and found two outfit choices that seem like viable picks, but still unsure. I need you guys' help! I love outfit #2, but I feel like I will be more comfortable in outfit #1 considering I will be at an all-day event. Which outfit do you like best?

August Beauty Picks!

Hi Dolls,

I normally wait to do my beauty picks for the month before at the beginning of each new month, but with my NYC trip fast approaching for the blogger conference, I needed to stock up on my latest and greatest beauty finds to accompany me on my upcoming trip.

On my shopping haul I picked up a few new things and a few old things:

  • Alba Botanica Acnedote-for my bad acne issues. Love these!
    • Deep Cleansing Wash
    • Deep Clean Astringent
  • CHI Keratin Mist-leave-in mist good for daily flat irons to not damage your hair.
  • Tresemme' Extra Firm Gel-to tame fly-aways
  • Elf Natural Lash Kit-to give me fuller lashes
  • Target Brand Cosmetic Rounds-for make-up application
  • Goody Bobby Pins-for fancy up-dos
  • MAC cosmetics-to create the perfect evening look
    • Studio Fix Fluid (foundation)
    • Pro Colour Compact
      • Black
      • Brown-shimmer

I still need to get a few more toiletry items for my trip, but i'm uber excited for New York next week! I still haven't figured out what i'm wearing yet, but perhaps i'll do a haul later this week of what I find.

Thanks for visiting!

This or That: Skull Loafers

Happy Hump Day Everyone! If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you know how much I heart the color black and skull detail on clothing, shoes, and accessories. I'm obsessed! And not because I'm morbid or anything, but I think it marries my love for classic, sophisticated looks, but adds a edgy flair. Any who, I came across these Alexander McQueen Skull-embellished velvet loafers and I absolutely loooooove them!

Alexander McQueen Skull Loafers

McQueen is known for using the skull detail in a lot of his looks, which is right up my ally and these slipper loafers don't disappoint. With a price tag of almost $600 bucks, however, I would never be able to afford them myself so that motivated me to find similar loafers that I could still achieve the McQueen look, but for way less money.

Target, where I shop all too often, likes to stick with the trends of the season and offers a more budget-friendly find for just $20. Isn't that fabulous?! I figured with the Target find and a little DIY skill, I could re-create the McQueen loafer for a fraction of the price.

The Target loafers aren't velvet or leather, but their a "suedette" material, which means their faux suede (and with all these rainy days we've been having here in Florida, that's probably a good thing). I went to Michael's, a local craft store, to purchase the studs and a pattern--which were like two dollars a piece--and then I simply glued them to the top of the shoe.

Here's my DIY version:

What do you think?! Not too shabby, huh?!

Create the look:

Pair either shoe with cuffed jeans, a button down top and a structured blazer for a casual work day look or simple colored skinnies and a flowy tank for a weekend look.

Splurge: Alexander McQueen || Budget: Mossimo for Target

Classically Chic Print

Fall Preview: Houndstooth
Houndstooth- I have to say this pattern is my favorite! This Fall classic comes back "in style" so to speak, almost every year. It's an update to the polka dot trend we've all been wearing this summer and it's an easy way to update any wardrobe with a few key pieces. You never want to wear head-to-toe of this print, but adding it to your attire with a clutch, a pair of shoes, or a sweater can update any outfit for instant chic.

Cheetah, Black & Gold

The rain has been such a downer in Florida lately with storms occurring nearly everyday. Though I love moderate rain storms to cool off these insanely hot summer days, it's definitely not welcomed all the time. I've lived here for years now and it's still something I can never get used to, but naturally I adapt.

Since the month of August hit, I've been longing for Fall/winter fashion mainly because I love the season and partially because it's just too freaking hot in the summer. With all the stores preparing for the upcoming season with boots, sweaters, and scarfs galore, it's no wonder why I'm having Fall fever?! Or maybe it's just the heat? Either way, I can hardly wait! Today, my outfit is an homage to Fall.

Outfit: Blazer: The Limited (old). Tank: Forever 21. Jeans: from TJ Maxx. Boots: Aldo (old). Belt: Betsey Johnson. Necklace/Bracelet/Earrings: Thrifted. Handbag: R+J from TJ Maxx. Sunnies: Marc Jacobs. Watch:  Michael Kors

Finding the Perfect Travel Companion

The Perfect Companion: Travel Duffles

With New York Fashion Week (NYFW) roughly 33 days away, I began shopping for my upcoming trip to NYC. If you follow any of my tweets on Twitter or posts on Facebook, you would know that I am super excited to be attending Lucky Magazine's Blogger Conference in September for the first time. I have to say it is slightly daunting though because with a closet full of clothes, I still feel I have nothing to wear. Go figure! Since I'm still up in the air about what i'm going to wear, I thought I'd start with finding a luggage. Of course, I own a few pieces of luggage already, but after a few years of wear and tear, stains, snagged zippers etc., it is definitely time for some new pieces.

Since I'm going to one of the fashion mecca's, I can't be seen carrying just any ole thing so I searched for a few duffle bags that I can use as my carry-on bag for the plane ride. Having a medium to large duffle will allow me to carry all my essential items like toiletries, undergarments, a few outfits and shoes. This way if anything should happen to the luggage I checked-in, I have clothes and all my essentials to get me through my trip. If anyone knows anything about traveling internationally and having lost luggage, you probably understand why I'm saying pack a carry-on with essentials and clothing. Nothing like being half-way across the world with no luggage and just a wallet, passport and chewing gum! (Can you tell this happened to me before?! lol)

My picks for a duffle bag to take to NYC are shown above. They're all pretty reasonably priced. I love animal print, probably as much, if not more than I love sparkles and bling so I am leaning towards number 2 with the cheetah print, but i'm still undecided.

What do you all think? Which one is your fav?
