Indigo Bee Soap

The Indigo Bee is a Tampa based business that was started by Trista Page, a mom of three, in 2006. She was fed up with the quality of soap products on the market that had preservatives and chemicals in them that she decided it was time to develop a product that was all natural. That's when the Indigo Bee was born! Her products uses natural ingredients such as palm oil, olive oil, and grape seed oil to name a few.

I had the pleasure of  meeting Trista and trying her soap when I attended a SPA 50 event at Vixen Fitness in Orlando a few weeks back. I have to say, it seems to be all I use and have yet to purchase body wash or other expensive soaps by famous brands since purchasing from the Indigo Bee. I wanted to share this soap with you all because I've had great results using it and I don't think I will be using anything else for some time.

Stripe Maxi by Sugarlips

Today's outfit post was actually taken over the weekend during my mini shopping spree to the Anniversary Sale at Nordstrom's. I wanted to wear something that was laid-back and weekend appropriate, but still look put together. I chose this black, white and red maxi dress by Sugarlips because it was simple, the fabric was light and I could dress it up or dress it down depending on what I had going on that day. I chose to add a chunky necklace and cage peep-toe wedges to finish the look. Nothing too much because it's extremely hot in the daytime and especially yesterday with it being 91 degrees in the shade. Ugh! But the dress was definitely functional for a shopping day, it was so easy to try things on and I wore it later that night out with my girlfriend's for dinner and drinks, but was still so comfortable.

Fashion Slave's: Hometown Fashionista!

Hi Lovelies,

As you know, I love shopping, creating looks and styling outfits.......probably a little too much for my pocketbook's sake too. And I know that if you read my blog or subscribe that you must love shopping just as much as I do. Since we all share a love of fashion, i'm curious to see where you all draw your inspiration (hopefully from me! :-) ) to create your daily looks. So I would like to create a blog series specifically for you to showcase your best looks and become the next 'Hometown Fashionista'.

Here's how it works:
1. Find inspiration for your look either on my blog or somewhere else.
2. Based on your inspiration, re-create your most fashionable outfit.
3. Take a picture of yourself or have a friend take a picture of you in your most fashionable look.
4. Then, email your picture and inspiration photo (optional) to fashionslavebychigurl@gmail.com
5. Provide your name, hometown and a brief description of what defines your style and what inspired your look.

I will go through all the entries and choose which 'Hometown Fashionista' will be featured each week and you will all have a chance to vote on the looks. (only positive feedback, please.)

So what do you think? Sounds easy enough, right? Well what are you waiting for get started! I'm looking forward to reading all the submissions and who knows........YOU can be the first Hometown Fashionista!

 XOXO,

Chi

Denim Vests

I'm so loving the denim trend lately (have you noticed)! One way to rock the denim look for summer is the denim vest. It's so versatile and you can dress it up or dress it down. If you love denim vests as much as I do, but you're not quite sure how to wear it, here are 3 ways to rock this stylish look.

Colored Denim on Denim

Today's outfit was inspired by my fashion haul from last week. I just got the denim shirt, which I love and was trying to figure out what to wear it with first. Since I'm loving the colored jean trend lately, I decided color denim with denim. I paired it with a brown belt and leopard print pumps to add a little interest. I put a cream colored cami underneath just so I wasn't showing too much, but you can definitely rock your denim shirt with just a bra and bare midriff. I'm all about, if you got it flaunt it!

Top: Forever 21 $19
Pants: Forever 21 $15
Belt: Wet Seal $3.99
Shoes: Guess $40 (on sale)
Handbag: Vieta $80
Watch: D&G $150 (old)

Shopping Trip!

Recently, I went on a little shopping trip to find pieces to finish off a few outfits for some upcoming events I have to attend. I hit up a few stores at the mall including Forever 21, Wet Seal , and Charlotte Russe . There's still a few more items I need like a clutch and a statement necklace, but I'm so happy with what I bought!

Forever 21 Denim Top

Denim shirts are such a summer staple item. You can pair it with almost anything like fun floral jeans, maxi dresses, colored jeans etc. I can tie this up in the front or tuck it in a pair of jeans, the list goes on! This shirt is definitely my favorite item for this fashion haul because it's so versatile.

Shop the Look

Long sleeve button down shirt / Navy top / Stretch pants / GUESS high heel shoes / Miss Selfridge metal jewelry / NARS Cosmetics matte lipstick /

Who doesn't love Gwen's style?! She always seems so effortlessly put together, but manages to keep it sexy and rocker-chic at the same time. Gwen goes literal with the men's wear trend by adding a tie to a buttoned-up collar shirt, but still keeps it sexy with tight leather pants from Rag & Bone. And I love her blonde hair with the deep red lip! You can recreate this look on a pretty modest budget. Click the links above to shop my picks for recreating Gwen's menswear inspired look!

I want to know, what do you think of Gwen's look? Would you rock menswear?

Don't be shy, leave a comment below.

Oasis cotton shift dress, $100 / Wallis gray shoes / Metallic clutch

I was scouring online magazines, as I usually do, and came across this look by Lea Michele at Paris Fashion Week for the Atelier Versace. I loved her look immediately because she combined a structured look with a summer color and just looked so put together without showing too much. Her look is head-to-toe Versace with Norman Silverman earrings, but it's well out of many fashionista's budgets so I found a budget-friendly look for less that still embodies the Versace look without breaking the bank.

BET Awards 2012: Fashion Wrap-Up

One of the biggest nights in black entertainment had to be this year's BET Awards 2012. The black stars and musicians were out in full effect and showing us what they were working with in fabulous fashions. Their was a clear color trend amongst the ladies of the night on the red carpet with yellow gowns and white dresses. Other celebs, such as Selita E-banks and Elle Varner, opted for sheer dresses or sequins.  Check out a few of the looks of the night: (photos below)
